Bedale Town 6 v Otley Town 2

and finally on the last game of the season and we have a selection problem with all players being available ........managers for the day Keith Caygill and Phil Parker made their choice and were faced with a desmond 2.2 at half time , they swapped things around and brought in Jonny Coombs and Dave Proud which changed the game , running out 6.2 winners to finish the season a very creditable 3rd .

Harold Styans 0 v 3 Bedale Town

A gritty determined performance by all 13 players made the trip worthwhile , but it could have been so different . With player absence a problem , 4 of the normal back 5 changed and for the first 20 mins , Bedale were raggy , and were lucky not to be 2.0 down and thanks must go to new keeper  Jordan Aspinal for that . But Bedale dug in and Lewis Walton set Graham Caygill up who finished well from 15 m out , Marc Adams then crashed in a tremendous side volley on the run following good work by Graham Caygill and Kylie Jackson .

But it was the defence which laid the platform for this , with new centre backpairing AJ Woodward and Jonny Morris beginning to gel , and ably supported by the excellent Callum Fletcher and Stu Adams , this began to make the mid field tick and as Matty Goodwin and Matty Allison began to shift the ball quickly more and more chances were created .

In the second half although it was fiercely contested Styans were shut out by tremendously organised and disciplined defending , and Jordan Aspinal was a virtual spectator ( although we could always hear him !)

Adam Bramley returned from injury , and it was terrific to see Clarky play in a first team shirt again and he claimed an assist for the third goal with the cross which the goalkeeper dropped on Jackos size 9 a yard out !

A well earned clean sheet victory which positions the team for 3rd place in the league .

Thirsk 2 v 1 Bedale ( League cup Semi Final )

With the other semi being Bramham and Pateley Bridge , the biggest task was to get past Thirsk , but with the pre match preparation resembling a pre season freindly and with Phil Parker , Adam Bramley , Jonny Coombs and Dave Proud all unavailable the Bedale palayers were still in the starting stalls when kick off came and thirsk dominated the opening exchanges scoring a well taken goal from 25 m out .

This seemed to shake Bedale and having been reminded of the game plan , they started to put it into action , and gradually began to get a grip , Graham Caygill created a chance for Mark Adams who was pushed in the back as he went to head  it , but play was waved on , Matty Allison had a long distance attempt fly over the bar and at half time although Thirsk were 1.0 up the game was very even .

In the opening exchanges of the second half Bedale attacked and some great play by Michael Thomas and Kylie Jackson led to Mark Adams driving a shot just over the bar  from 25 m out , Bedales pressure started to tell and finally a superbly flighted free kick from Kylie Jackson was headed home by Adam Coombs who rose salmon like at the far post .

From then on it became an open game on an awful pitch that had Michael Thomas asking to go back and play on the pitches in the desert ! Thirsk pressed Dean Hudson into some good saves , and as Thirsks Centre forward manhandled Matty Goodwin to preventing him blocking a shot the ball bounced up and hit Jonny Morris s hand to give Thirsk a penalty in the final 10 minutes . Bedale could not recover from this and the only thing left to do was to judge the preliminary rounds ,  heats and final of  the diving competition which eventually saw ref Coulson brandish his yellow card .

The positives from this game are that Thirsk are the best Footballing team in this league , and have recently won the County Cup - we have now seriously competed with them twice and lost by the odd goal on both occasions whilst having no luck . Kirkby M have won the league , but on another day with a different ref we would have won the game against them . Bedale has competed at the top but needs an extra push from all players  to cross the line between winning and losing .

Bedale 5 v 0 Bramham

Dean Hudsons first clean sheet of the season was made possible by a fine defensive display which included 2 newcomers , Michael Thomas , back from his RAF posting and Mark Chisholm back in a Bedale first team shirt after 2 years and what fine performances they both put in .

Marc adams got things started with a goal from the edge of the box which crashed the underside of the bar before end ing up in the net , then a great goal from Graham Caygill made it 2.0 in difficult windy conditions on a bobbly pitch . Johnny Morris finished off a Kyle Jackson free kick to make it 3 .0 at half time , but for once Bedale had a bit of luck , Dean Hudson made a fine double save , and Bramham went close twice . The second half saw Graham Caygill score the 4th with his left foot and Lee Sharda come on as sub and add the fifth , Dean Hudsons handling in the second half earned him the clean sheet we have all waited for .

Bedale 1 v Kirkby Malzeard  3

Kirkby Malzeards luck from the senior cup final against Thirsk continued , this week instead of having 2 goals wrongly awarded to them they had 3 . Nothing more to be said .

Tuesday 6th April

Thirsk 3 v 2 Bedale Town

With key players missing this was always going to be a tough game with both teams pushing for the runners up place behind Kirby Malzeard . After an even first 30 minutes a mistake by Matt Goodwin put Thirsks' centre forward one on one with  Dean Hudson who brought him down trying to save the shot . This gave Thirsk a penalty and despite the Thirsk managers screams for a sending off , the refs decision was consistent with the one against his own keeper in the senior cup final 2 days earlier - that was to leave the goalkeeper on the field of play , nevertheless after more than holding their own Bedale found themselves 1.0 down , and it was soon to be 2 , as from the following centre kick the ball was given away and Thirsk scored again . Thirsk wwere then the better team for 10 minutes but following some excellent play by Dave Proud , Graham Caygill pulled one back just before half time .

Subsituting the injured Adam Bramley and Leigh Kinroy ; Stevie Dawson and Matty Allison found themselves in the thick of the action and both made a great impact , but to no avail as thirsk scored a third 10 minutes into the half , this then saw the game open up with chances being created at both ends and following a great move down the right hand side Dave Proud followed up and scored from just inside the box , to set up a frantic last 15 minutes , but despite magnificent effort from Bedales players , Thirsk ran down the clock to take the points .

Harlow Hill 2 v 5 Bedale Town

Harlow Hill despite being the leagues bottom club , put up a fight and  made Bedale work hard for the win in this game . The first half was a strange mixture with Bedale having all the play and all the possession, but with Harlow being very dangerous on the counter attack . Kylie Jackson got things started with a free kick , and then Bedale hit the post twice and had several close chances. But Harlow counter attacked quickly and equalised , then just before the break with Bedale committing players forward again Harlow launched  another counter attack and a superbly finished goal put Harlow 2.1 up at the break . A half time re shuffle  , saw Marc Adams introduced , with immediate impact and Adam Bramley equalised from close range following good work by Marc Adams and Kylie Jackson.  Bedale were then awarded a penalty for a foul on Marc Adams which Kylie Jackson put away smartly and at this point Bedale were in control . Matt Goodwin was introduced  following his recent injury and played in his favoured midfield position, scoring the 4th with his left foot! and then Graham Caygill was rewarded for his outstanding effort with a well taken  5th goal.

Another 3 points and a test of character for the team.

Hamsthwaite 1 v 7 Bedale Town ( League Challenge Cup )

Bedale cruised to a comfortable victory despite having several key players missing , horrendous conditions  and a pitch resembling something you couldgrow rice on.Goals from Adam Bramley 2,Kyle Jackson 2 ,Graham Caygill, Lewis Walton and Andrew Duffy who scored withhis very first touch , won the game , but other notable displays came from Dean Hudson who despite the conditions held everything which came at him , including a penalty , (D)adi Coombs who marshalled the defence and Dave Proud who won 99% of all headers . Credit must also be given to Hamsthwaite who never gaveup and particularly their keeper who made at least 10 outstanding saves, and the ref who handled the game and the conditions superbly . Killinghall Nomads 1 v 4 Bedale Town

After 3 weeks with no game Bedale looked a bit shakey early on , and a defensive reshuffle was required when Matt Goodwin pulled a hamstring - This meant an unfamiliar position for Matty Allison slotting in at left back , but he performed well winning one of the man of the match awards .

Dave Proud started the scoring with a far post header from another excellent Kyle Jackson corner , then Graham Caygill scored a tremendous goal following a through ball from Jonny Coombs to put Bedale 2.0 up at half time and Dean Hudson in goal a virtual spectator .

The second half started well for Bedale who initially played some fine football , but then with dean woodward not having made a save , the ref allowed 4 offside players to run through on goal and score to make it 2.1 with 30 mins to play . This spurred Killinghall on and for 15 minutes they were the better team , with Phil Parker having to marshall his defense to meet the attacks .  But Bedale continued to try to play passing football and this paid off with a terrific interchange between Graham Caygill and Kyle Jackson which ended with Marc Adams scoring from close range  , and then with virtually the last kick of the game Adams went through again on a one on one with the keeper , walked around him and rolled the ball into the net .

Otley Town 1 v 3 Bedale Town

Adam Bramley won his second man of the match award in a week , bagging 2 of Bedales 3 goals in this bad tempered affair which saw 6 players booked and 2 sent off .

Bedale started poorly and lost Curt Tasker to injury in the first ten minutes and with Otley pressing hard Bedale broke leaving Bramley to finish smartly to make it 1.0 . A fine save from the Otley keeper prevented Bramleys second , and as Bedale got on top Graham Caygill and Matty Allison combined to put Allison through in a one on one with the keeper , only to see his shot saved , but Caygill was following up to make it 2.0

Then with the last kick of the first half Otley pulled one back after Dean Hudson parried a long shot only to see the Otley forward respond quickest to bundle the rebound into the net.

Soon after half time Johnny Coombs replaced Matty allison and Bedales grip strenghthened with more chances being created . Kyle jackson hit the post with a 25 m volley , and Bramley then broke beat 2 players and slipped the ball past the Otley keeper to make it 3.1 .

A scrappy game which required discipline and focus which on this occasion Bedale had .

Bedale Town 6 v 1 Killinghall Nomads

Bedale got back to winning ways with a comfortable 6.1 win at BASA. . Marc Adams got things started with a close range finish , before the first of 2 runs from Adam Bramley which deserved goals but slid past the post . Matty Allison scored a second with a tremendous lob over the keeper and Kylie Jackson and Graham Caygillmade it 4 .0 at half time with the Bedale defence able to have  a students life at the back and the only thing troubling keeper Dean Hudson was whether he should wear a cap or a hat in the second half .

However , as the second half started Killinghall pushed Bedale back and began to pose problems for the Town team , who broke away twice to make it 6.0 , with further goals from Caygill and Allison . Ref Richie Haslam then awarded his 5th penalty in 3 matches , and as the Killinghall player struck it hard and high , Bedales keeper Dean Hudson pulled off a magnificent save to protect the clean sheet - which also made it  the fifth penalty awarded by Richie Haslam to be missed .

The clean sheet didnt however last very long , because after evading two bedale tackles the Killinghall captain pushed the ball in the penalty area where it was stabbed home from 2 metres out .More missed chances from Bedale in the dying minutes gave a 6.1 final scoreline .

Pateley Bridge 4 v 1 Bedale Town

With 5 first team squad players missing , 2 players carrying injuries  , no full backs and two youngsters as back up , Bedale made the journey to Pateley Bridge with an uphill battle to stay in touch at the top.

The game started quite brightly with both Dave Proud and Graham Caygill going very close , but then the Pateley midfield began pressing , and amidst some toughtackling they took the lead after the Pateley number 8 evaded 4 tackles and struck from the edge of the area giving Dean Hudson no chance.

A defensive error and stronger desire lead to a second to put Pateley 2 up at half time , but it could have been more but for some great saves by Dean Hudson and some last ditch defending by Jonny Morris .

A formation reshuffle at half time did not improve things for Bedale , and the team had to be shuffled again when Curt Taskers injury finally got the better of him and he was replaced by 17 year old Callum Fletcher playing his first game in senior football for Bedale.

Fletchers spark and sense of urgency led to some brighter spells for Bedale but they conceded a third when the ball appeared to be knocked out of Hudsons hands and rolled into the net .

Another attack started by Fletcher led to a clear handball in the area with the resulting penalty taken by Jackson ,superbly saved by the Pateley keeper .

Another debutant was sent on with 16 year old Tom O'Gorman replacing Jackson and when the pateley keeper felled matty Allison as he went thro , Marc Adams skied the resulting penalty over the bar.

O Gorman then scored a well taken goal for Bedale 5 minutes from    time and with Bedale pushing forward , Pateley scored a fourth on the break in the dying minutes .

Fitness and desire were the differnces between the two teams with Pateley deserving the points .

Kirk Deighton 1 v 2 Bedale Town

Bedale kicked off the new year with a hard fought win over a tough Kirk Deighton side and all this whilst playing in a kit which would have had Gok Wan and the fashion police turning hissy fits ! - Blue socks , blue and yellow shirts and bright red shorts - lovely.... . In the first half Bedales defence stood fast against some tough tackling and although Deighton had lots of posession they only created 1 real chance whilst Matty Allison and Kyle Jackson both went close for Bedale . Marc Adams was suffering from his reputation as one of the leagues best players , with the Deighton no 4 following him every where like a shadow , even when he came off the field for a drink ! With Kirk Deighton throwing everything at Bedale , Adam Bramley dropped into midfield to help out and showed his class with several long diagonal passes which would nt have been out of place in the premiership , and this together with a resolute back four enabled Bedale to go in at half time without conceding .

As Adam Bramley gave way to Curt Tasker for his first game in a year , Bedale began to get a grip on the game and the first time that Marc adams shook off his shadow he scored to put Bedale 1.0 up  . The Ref soon evened it up tho by awarding a harsh penalty against Jonny Coombs . Jonny morris came in at left back and Lewis Walton slotted into the right side of midfield as Bedale pushed for a winner.  Adams scored again but his goal was disallowed before Matty Allison and Graham Caygill hassled the Deighton defence  resulting in Caygill beating the keeper in a one on one to give Bedale a well deserved winner.

Defensively Bedale were superb with the whole team playing its part and the win puts the team within a few points of the leaders. Kirk Deighton are an excellent team who play hard and have experienced but gracious management - they will take points off the other top teams .

5 straight wins , bring on Killinghall !!!

Bedale 9 v 0 Sherwood

Despite missing keeper Dean Hudson and skipper Phil Parker and with Dave Proud on the bench returning from injury , stand in keeper Adam Coombs kept a clean sheet , and the outfield players gave a robust and disciplined team performance. Goals came from Graham Caygill 2 , Adam Bramley 2 , 16 year old Lewis Walton 2 , Marc Adams 2 and Dave Proud who came off the bench in the second half.

Noteable things to take from the game were a fine full debut from 16 year old James kitchenman at full back and two terrific performances from centre backs Matt Goodwin  and Johnny Morris . Also just so that people fully appreciate what a top bloke Marc Adams is - he not only gave up the goal he carved out himself for Lewis Walton to roll the ball over the line , but that would also have been Marcs hat trick . A fine gesture of support for our young players and with 7 of those players in the first team squad being under 19  the future is looking strong.

Bedale 3 v 2 Kirk Deighton

With Proudy moving house and Lee Mac working , Bedales midfield was lightweight in the extreme , but it floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee creating 3 excellent first half goals , and totally dominating the first half .

The first was a candidate for goal of the season with a fine passing move ending in an excellent cross from Marc Adams and superbly headed home by Adam Bramley . A Marc Adams solo made it 2.0 and with Bedale running riot Bramley crossed for Jonny Coombs to steal in at the far post for a 3rd . Skipper Phil Parker set the tone competing for every loose ball , and being supported by 3 fine performances from Matt Goodwin , Lee Kinroy and Adam Coombs in defence .

Matty Allison and Kyle Jackson both defended and got forward from midfield to support the attack and the team got to half time 3.0 up .

The second half could not live up to the first and it seemed to stop and start rather than flow ;  both Bedale  forwards were subbed due ill health which gave jonny morris and james williams a chance to shine , but with KD casting caution aside they began to create chances and a foul up in the bedale defence led to a first goal for them . 16 year old Franco Walton was introduced to give Matty Allison a rest and marc adams just kept running , then deep into injury time despite a strong suspicion of offside KD grabbed a second , but the final outcome was never in doubt

Bedale 3 V 2 Pateley Bridge

A terrific second half performance rescued Bedale from defeat having gone in 2.1 down at half time .

The game started well with a Kyle Jackson free kick being headed home by Adam Bramley after only 5 minutes . Things went downhill after that though with the Pateley Bridge midfield dominating things for most of the half , and equalising from a free kick which was incorrectly awarded against Adam Coombs .  Pateley then made it 2.1 with a well taken goal which was helped by a deflection past Dean Hudson.

Following a half time rant from the team manager , Bedale came out fired up and began to play some good football , things improved with the introduction of Lee Macafferty and following a move up the right hand side involving Adam Coombs , Marc adams and Adam Bramley  , johnny coombs beat 3 other Bedale players to convert the cross to make it 2.2 . Bedale then forced a series of corners and came close several times but at the other end Pateley always looked likeley to score but were kept out by solid defending and a bit of luck when the referee turned down a strong penalty appeal . Then with 30 seconds left Kyle Jackson delivered another excellent corner from which Adam Bramley struck an excellent winner to seal the points and prompt a mass touchline celebration.

Burley Trojans 1 v 8 Bedale Town

Bedale arrived at Burley expecting a tough game as Burley have always caused them problems in the past. Poor condiitions including a very heavy pitch only made expectations worse. The 4 - 1 loss to burley at home earlier in the season was still in the minds of Bedales players, this made them determined to get a result this time around.

Bedale started well, somehow managing to play good football on the very poor pitch, playing the ball around with confidence and it was no surprise when Graham Caygill opened the scoring early in the first half. Things only got better for Bedale after that, the great football continued to flow, and for once Bedale started to take their chances, and goals followed from Marc Adams (4) Jonny Coombs, Adam Bramley and Kyle Jackson. Burleys players didnt know what had hit them,  and but for a late consolation goal from Burley a perfect afternoon for the Bedale players.

Bedale 0 v 2 Staithes Athletic -  County Cup

Staithes set off bossing the midfield , and it looked as though Bedale were in for a tough day , but as the game went on Bedale gained better possession , had a stonewall penalty turned down , and played some good passing football . Then just as half time came and with honours appearing to be even in the first half , the ref failed to spot the staithes player standing       2 m offside in the middle of the goal who stuck the ball in the net with all the Bedale players waiting for the whistle . HT 0.1

Bedale came out in the second half and took the game to Staithes , but were always vulnerable on the break.  Matty Allison and Graham Caygill both hit the woodwork , but all the possession and passing football never forced a save from the Staithes keeper . Adam Bramleys return from injury gave Bedale a more attacking edge , and they almost equalised when a 6 man passing move resulted in the ball flying across the 6 yard box but Bedale were unable to bundle it into the net . Having had most of the second half Bedale were caught on the counterattack giving staithes their second goal 10 mins from time.

Conclusions - the game was well refereed by the Staithes No2 playing in midfield ( his admission not ours ) ; we are terrific in possession but lack the bite and desire to win the ball in the first place; we need to be fitter across the team in order to get into the box to finish off the moves; We need to be fitter in order to quickly provide support to the player with the ball - too often we get caught in possession because the player on the ball has no options .

Bedale 0 v 3 Thirsk  ( Senior cup )

Missing Adam Bramley and skipper Danny Carrick , Bedales preparation was undone with a goal from Thirsk which referee Rick Haslam timed at 10 seconds - from the centre kick there were 3 passes and a shot and the first time a bedale player touched the ball was to pick it up out of the back of the net .

From here Bedale rallied and had the better of the first half creating several good chances , whilst Matt Goodwin and Jonny Morris marshalled a solid defence. A great move involving left back Michael Thomas  , Kyle Jackson and Graham Caygill  , led to Thomas s shot being deflected just over the bar, and Matty Allison was denied twice by good saves from the Thirsk keeper.

With hopes high for the second half , Bedale started well , but were caught asleep again from a corner when a thirsk player got in front of his marker to head home from close range .

With both Bedale forwards returning from injury , they soon tired and were replaced , but Thirsk s superior fitness then began to tell , and they fully deserved their third goal as Bedale looked raggy , with Matt Goodwin and Dean Hudson having to rescue them on numerous occasions. An injury to Matty Allison then led to a reshuffle , but as players got tired the game was stretched and despite creating more chances , thirsk ran out deserved winners and will go through to the next round.

Bedale 0 v 3 Kirk Deighton

3 early goals before a sleepy Bedale team really got going settled this game , and manager Dave Goodwin took responsibility for a poor first half team selection which was forced by having all 3 forwards out through injury . Matt Goodwin was moved out of his sweeper role into midfield and Dave Proud moved up to centre forward , but this , plus the team being second to every ball in the first 20 minutes led to 3 early goals from a very fit and fast moving Kirk Deighton team . Highlights of the day were an early header from Matt Goodwin which the Kirk keeper clawed out of the top corner , the second half performance was better , and 16 year old Alex Wilsons debut which was excellent. Big bonuses were matty allison and Graham Caygill coming thro the game with no reoccurance of their injuries .

Helperby 2 v 9 Bedale

A terrific team performance was made by all 13 players but no one will begrudge the plaudits going to the 3,  16 year olds, Charlie Marsh , Lewis Walton and James Kitchingman who put in tremendous performances. Johnny Coombs got things started , with yet another goal from a corner , after good work by Charlie Marsh and Dave Proud , other goals soon followed from Marc Adams (2 ) and Kyle Jackson ( pen ) , before the Bedale midfield got caught out of position which let Helperby pull one back . Johnny Coombs got his second on the stroke of half time  to make it 5 .1 at the interval .

Dave Proud then scored a terrific goal which he made himself  , and another penalty followed by a great shot gave Jackson his hatrick .  With the team willing Charlie Marsh onto the scoresheet , Marc Adams was replaced by James Kitchingman who was excellent at right back , and a welcome return was made by Michael Abbotson after a long term injury who marked his return with a goal from a fierce cross / shot .Helperby got a consolation with a brilliantly struck volley  from 25 metres. Well referreed by Richie Haslam , this game did not need extra time .

Bedale 10 v  0  F1 Racing (York)

The wind spoilt this game , but a well earned clean sheet was a great reward for a disciplined performance. Playing into the wind  Bedale, led from the front by Danny Carrick took a 3.0 lead with goals from Adam Bramley and 2 from Dave Proud and only a great save and goaline clearance from Jordan Aspinall and Matty Goodwin protected that clean sheet .

The second half got off to a great start with goals from Kyle Jackson and 2 terrific headers from Johnny Coombs. Dave Proud got his hat trick , and Jackson and Bramley got their second each  before Marc Adams finally got the goal he deserved ; add a disallowed goal and hitting the woodwork 4 times plus around 10 other very close opportunities , this could have been a bigger score , however the clean sheet was more important and Bedale made fast work of F1 Racing. Defensively Phil Parker and Matty Goodwin made short work of any F1 attacks .  Mark Donaldson and Kyle O Gorman both gave good accounts of themselves as both young substitutes were given half an hour each  and made the most of it . .

Bedale 3 v 2 Otley Town

Bedale welcomed back Dave Proud from his trip to Bali and added new boy Aaron Freer to the squad for the vist of Otley Town . Early on in the game jonny coombs crashed a header off the bar , and the team created a number of good chances before falling behind to a penalty following a rash challenge by Matty Goodwin . Bedale then won a throw in and up stepped Jonny morris with his long throw which was headed in by Dave Proud to make the score 1.1 at half time. Unfortunately Graham Caygills injury re occured which meant a reshuffle putting Stu Adams at Centre forward  and he opened the second half terrorising the Otley defence with his pace , and when he was off the ball Adam bramley was carving great chances with his guile and skill , one of which involved him beating 4 players on a 30 metre run which ended with his shot coming off the inside of the post and rolling free but uncontested . Stu Adams was unlucky when he went one on one with the keeper who palmed the ball away but there was no one to follow in and a lapse in concentration at the back meant that Otley went in front 10 minutes before time with their only forward foray of the second half . Time for a quick reshuffle with Aaron Freer and Franco walton making an appearance , and only playing 3 at the back , Kyle Jackson hit the bar with a free kick , and Adam Bramley drew an amazing save from the Otley keeper  ,and as Bedale piled the pressure on Otley led by great commitment from left back Danny Carrick , the equaliser came from a Jonny Morris header at a corner with 1 minute left , but Bedale were not satisfied with that and pressured Otley again scoring the winner from Kyle Jackson at another corner .

A very close thing in the end , but the 3 points were thoroughly deserved , and the game produced a great find in Aaron Freers amazingly long throw - we now have both Rory Delap and Ian Hutchinson in the team ! ( remember him ? ) . Man of the match was a tough call with Stu Adams just edging out Adam Bramley  ,Jonny coombs ,  and Jonny Morris .

Otley Rovers 2 v 3 Bedale

With yet another patchwork team , and poor preparation meaning arrival at pitchside with little time to warm up and organise , Otley had the better start and both Kyle Jackson and Stu Adams had to work overtime defending .

Deano Hudson made a great double save before 16 year old Franco Walton was introduced following an injury to Graham Caygill after only 15 mins , and what a great first 30 minutes he had - under the guidance of Adam Bramley he closed players down , held the ball up , created chances for others and generally worked very hard . The teams reward came in the form of a deserved penalty drilled home by Kyle Jackson and a defence which finished the first half strongly . HT 0.1

The second half started well with Matt Goodwin mopping up the few chances that got past Messrs Parker , Carrick and Morris and with Jonny coombs and Matty Allison winning the midfield battle , Adam Bramley got on the end of a great passing move to make it 2.0 , but it wasnt over and a the ref awarded a goal when the Otley player clearly did a maradona and handled it past Deano ( the player admitted it after the game ). Otley then scored a terrific and deserved equaliser , but the experienced Adam Bramley wasnt finished yet and he won the game for Bedale with a terrific header from a Kyle Jackson free kick . Just time then for a sending off for Otleys right back who decided the only way to cope with roadrunner Adams was to chop his legs away as he ran thro the defence.

Bedale 3 v 2 Harold styans

Thin on first team players again , bedale got off to a great start and should have been 1. 0 up after 5 mins . Adam Bramley then crashed one against the bar as did Danny Carrick from a volley outside the area .

bedale then created a number of good chances before a pass from Jonny Morris set  Mark adams away who slipped the keeper to put Bedale 1.0 up . Styans scored from their first chance a soft free kick which squirmed past Dean Hudson , and then a second free kick fell to a play who was 2 metres offside , but the ref overruled the appeals to allow the goal . HT 1.2 to styans .

Nick Carlisle was introduced in the second half and made an immediate impact , with the styans players resorting to fouling him time and time again. Bedale continued to create chances with Graham Caygill beating the styans defenders for pace but not being able to convert the chances . marc adams was booked for a late challenge and a styans player was booked for yet another foul on nick carlisle , 2 minutes later the same player fouled carlisle again and saw the refs red card . then marc adams put graham caygill through who crashed his shot against the bar , 2 minutes later caygill hassled the styans defence , won the ball and crashed an unstoppable shot past the styans keeper to level things up ; and with Bedale now having the impetus Matty Allison was pushed into an adavanced position and following a swift passing move down the left he cooly slotted home from 12 metres for the winner .
