MATCH REPORTS 08-09

ECCLESHILL UNITED V BEDALE TOWN

Bedale travelled to Eccleshill this weekend looking to do the double over the extremely capable Eccleshill United.

Things didnt look promising at the start when players were unable to find the tricky ground of the oponents. But the ame kicked off allowing some of te younger Bedlae talent to show what they can do. It was Matthew Allison who opened the scoring with a lovely team goal finished by the in-form striker. Eccleshill never looked like threatening the Bedale goal but when they had an opportunity to level they were met by a very good bedale defence (Danny Carrick, James Horsfield, Mark Hemingway and Tyrone Crow). Things went from bad to worse for Eccleshill when a ball whiped in from Kyle Jackson fell to the very capable Adam Bramley who gladuflly dispatched his effort with ease.

 HALF TIME

Bedale started the second half wth the wind i their faces, but this didnt disturb the young outfit who trebled their lead through the prolific Adam Bramley. An injury to Tyrone Crow lead to the introduction of veteran Adam Coombs who was set to start if he could of found the pitch on time. It was Sahne Parkinson who sealed the victory for Bedale. a scuffle on the edge of the area allowed Shane Parkinson to walk through the Eccleshill defence and easily slide the ball past the onlooking goal keeper, 0-4. Things didnt end to well foe Bedale though, with Danny Carrick being sent off in the last two minutes. An excellent tackle in the area was deemed by the referee to be a foul, an astonishing decision to all onlookers (even the opponents manager) and he Ref reached straight for his pocket for a straight red. Eccleshill dispatched the spot kick with ease leaving Dean Hudson with no chance. Then a last gasp effort from outside the area flew in the bottom corner. this turned out t be the last kick of the game and Bedale left with their heads held high and thankfully all 3points.

BEDALE TOWN FC V SHERWOOD

Bedale hosted Sherwood this weekend (31st Jan) looking for another victory, allowing them to move up the table.

A cold and windy R&R Ice Cream Stadium was the venue for a must win game for Bedale.

Bedale started the game poorly, finding themselves 1-0 down in the first 10 minutes. A kick up the a**e was what was needed and soon found themselves with a great opportunity from the penaly spot. Kyle Jackson dispatched the spot kick with great composure and confidence. Half time came and again Bedale went into half time feeling disapointed and extremely lack-lustre.

Bedale took the criticism from half time and turned it into a performance. 6 more goals were scored in the second half for Bedale, with Kyle Jackson getting to take home the match ball. Also on the scoresheet was Adam Bramley, Matthew Goodwin, Matthew Allison and Shane Parkinson. The game finished 7-1.

OTLEY TOWN V BEDALE TOWN FC

Bedale made the journey south this weekend to face their first opponents of the season OTLEY TOWN.

With Bedale acquiring an array of new faces had two challenges on their hands, gaining 3 points and bedding the new players into the game.

The game started poorly for Bedale who found themselves 2-0 down within the first twenty minutes after some very supect defending. Without really challenging the Otley goal half time fell and Bedale were looking very worse for wear. A stern half time talk from player/manager Jonny Coombs lifted the Bedale heads and came into the second half with more determination and will to win. This showed 10 minutes into the 2nd half when new boy James Horsfield neatly slotted in from 10 yards out off a whippy Stu Adams cross. The re-invented team with heads well in the air started to barage the Otley Goal with Stu Adams, Matty Allison and Andrew Sturdy all going close. But the second goal was not as intended when a corner was cleared by bthe defender into the Path of Jonny Coombs, which hit his knee and into the corner of the goal. 2-2. Bedale now were after all 3 points and again proceeded to push and put tehir opponents under more pressure. It paid off when a lovely through ball from Jonny C was belted into the top corner from in form Matty Allison.

First 3 points fall to Bedale. A well earned, hard fought win.
