All Players ....
07 March 2010

It would be helpful to the managers if all players could let us know well in advance if they are likely to miss games - particularly with night matches and potential clashes with sunday league fixtures coming up . It's disappointing to hear stories of planned absences from other people 4/5 weeks in advance , and then the player in question tells us himself the thursday before a game.

Just send a text , it's dead easy .....

A Tranny in Afghani
07 March 2010

James Williams had an outstanding game in midfield in the reserves 4.1 away win to Helperby , to mark his last game for the club before he goes on a 4 month posting to Afghanistan. James is a talented and popular member in the club and will be missed whilst he is away .

We wish James well and look forward to his safe return .

Sportsmans dinner
06 February 2010
We are delighted to forward details of the NINETEENTH ANNUAL SPORTSMAN’S DINNER to be held on FRIDAY 5th MARCH 2010 at BEDALE HIGH SCHOOL starting at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm sit down. Following a couple of  requests last year, we have steered clear of engaging a footballer and have gone for two top class entertainers. Our principle guests are professional comedian Lea Roberts and top impressionist and comedian Steve Tandy. If you enjoyed Josh Daniels last year, you will love Lea – he comes highly recommended from Josh. Formal attire is the usual preferred dress on this occasion and ticket prices will remain at £30.00Any guests coming who are expecting a top-class, silver service, hotel meal will be disappointed. We continue to offer a wholesome four course meal of soup and roll, chilli and rice with garlic bread, a hot pudding and custard and coffee provided by North Yorkshire County Caterers. Should any guests have any special dietary considerations, please let me know in advance and we will attempt to ensure your needs are satisfied.  Please let me know asap how many tickets you require and/or send cheques payable to BEDALE FOOTBALL CLUB to Martyn Coombs at Roker House, 44 Firby Road, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2BH My telephone numbers are;Home; 01677 423475, School: 01677 458252 and Mobile; 07885 228097

Saturday 30th Fixtures
27 January 2010

All players - Steve Reed is shaking with the shieks this weekend , so Jono and Duffy are in charge of the seconds who are at home to Pateley Bridge .  The firsts are away at Killinghall , but there is half a chance that Killinghalls pitch will be waterlogged so we are exploring the possibility of switching that game to the School .

All available players should meet at BASA at 1pm unless you get a text from Dave Goodwin in which case you will be playing away for the firsts at Killinghall . If you are uncertain - ask

Saturday 9th January - Training
08 January 2010

Training will take place in the sports hall at Bedale Leisure Centre from 1.00pm to 2.30 pm on Saturday instead of the matches which the Harrogate league have postponed .  It is vital that levels of fitness are maintained and we would anticipate all players who would have expected to play on saturday to be present .

Access via the leisure centre , and please bring dry clean trainers to prevent the floor being slippery .

Games off , training on !
07 January 2010

The Harrogate league has ruled that all matches this coming weekend 9th January will be postponed . so that's a good early call which helps us .

For some now this will be 5 weeks without any football and as managers we are keen to maintain fitness levels and avoid the need for pre season type training - so it is intended that we will train on saturday afternoon at around normal KO time - so there really should be no excuses ! Not sure whether this will be at BASA or in the sports hall - keep an eye on the website on Friday and if you dont get a text , please phone either Dave or Steve on Saturday morning after 10.30 am .

Training ON
05 January 2010

Training on tuesday 5th january is back  on - bedale high school is closed for the day so we have got access to the sports hall .

6pm to 7.30pm - access via the leisure centre please

NEW YEAR ARRANGEMENTS

2. The pitch at basa is completely covered in snow so the 2nds game against Catterick is off and the under 19s game on Sunday against Ripon is also off  .

3. Training starts back on the MUGA on Tuesday 5th Jan 6 pm to 7.30 pm

4. Club meeting in the Kings Head at 8 pm on Wednesday 6th January - all players welcome .

xmas break training
15 December 2009

BEDALE TOWN FC

As managers we are delighted with where we are at the seasons half way mark , with both teams high in the league and still competing in cups . There has been good commitment from players  to attending training, and an excellent attitude displayed at training .

The final floodlit session before xmas is Tuesday 15th December , and the first one in the new year is likely to be around the 5th January( to be confirmed ) .

Both teams have tough games on 2nd January as both are playing other title contenders ( Thirsk and Catterick )  and it is therefore very important to maintain your current levels of fitness ( or in some cases improve on them ! ) in order for us to compete in these games . So to help we are setting up the following :-

  • ** Tuesday 22nd December – all players  meet at muga at 6.15 pm ,bring trainers for running ( or possibly sports hall footy )

  • ** Tuesday 29th December – all players meet basa 12.30 pm with full kit inc boots to play friendly match ( or training )

  • ** Thursday 31st December – all players meet basa 11 .00 am with full kit inc boots to play friendly match ( or training )

NOTE – if you cannot make these sessions you have a responsibility to yourself and your team mates to keep yourself in shape for the start of the new year – and whilst going to the gym is fine, remember that fitness is specific to the sport you are playing so the best preparation for football is running and sprinting .

Keep an eye on the website for any changes to this ……..
as we said a good first half to the season , lets make the second half the same !

Merry xmas – and a goalscoring new year !
